After SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004, there will be a SCORM 2.0.
Contrary to the previous release, SCORM 2.0 will be developed by a new consortium called LETSI (Learning-Education-Training Systems Interoperability) composed of 12 sponsors :
- Adobe Systems
- Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) Initiative
- Aviation Industry Computer-Based Training Committee (AICC)
- Booz Allen Hamilton
- Computer Society of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)
- Fraunhofer Institute Digital Media Technology
- IEEE Learning Technology Standards Committee (LTSC)
- Korea Institute for Electronic Commerce (KIEC)
- el Instituto Latinoamericano de la Comunicación Educativa (ILCE)
- Masie Learning Consortium
- MedBiquitous
- Schools Interoperability Framework Association (SIFA)
According to its first call of participation, “LETSI is soliciting White Papers from all stakeholders interested in shaping the future direction of SCORM and the implementation of learning systems technology”.
SCORM 2.0 would be more modular including a shared base and optional additional components adapted to specific industries needs.
